Theater/Film Makeup Design

I am available to design, key, or assist on any film, video, or theater project. I have over 12 years experience applying makeup for small to medium sized theaters, as well as several film and video projects to my credit.

Makeup Classes

I offer basic theater makeup classes for middle school, high school, community theater groups, or in a one-on-one setting.

Typical Middle/High School Class

A typical class for a middle school or high school will take 2 1-hour class periods. These classes include 20-30 minutes of lecture followed by a demonstration of techniques applied on one of the students.

The first hour covers:

Why we wear makeup on stage, different types of makeup products, proper hygienic application of various makeup products & A Basic straight makeup demo

The second hour covers:

A basic age makeup demo & an additional lesson of your choice

Some options for the additional lesson Include:

Simple trauma makeup (cuts, scrapes, bruises, & blood)
An advanced prosthetic application demonstration
A demo of laying a crepe hair beard
Creating an animal look

Advanced Classes

In addition to basic 2-hour workshop classes, I also teach advanced classes which include the topics listed above in more detail, as well as complex topics which require more time to teach. Each class period covers one topic and can consist of a demo, and a hands-on opportunity for the students to apply makeup on themselves or each other.

Topics for advanced classes include:

Advanced aging (using latex, latex & tissue, etc.)
Trauma/Gore Makeup
Life mask creation for prosthetics
Gelatin prosthetic creation and application
Plaster bandage stage mask creation

One-on-one Classes

All of the topics listed above and more can be taught on a one-on-one basis. I will work with you in a hands-on situation, teaching you to apply makeup to yourself or a model. Additionally I am able to teach advanced techniques including advanced prosthetics creation in a one-on-one setting.

Makeup Advisor for School Plays

As a makeup advisor for your school production, I can work with you from start of production to finish to ensure that all of your makeup needs are met
