Class Structure
Classes vary in structure depending on the topic and the amount of material
to cover. A typical class will involve an hour of theory and/or demonstration.
This is where we go over the techniques and materials used in the makeup
application. This is followed by an hour of hands-on time, where the student
get to apply what they've learned on a model. Other classes consist only
of theory, while prosthetics classes can have up to a four or five hour
hands on time.
Class Schedule and
Syllabus
Because each class is tailored to the individual student, I have no set
schedule or syllabus. Before taking on a new student, I meet with them
for a free one-on-one consultation to discuss their interests and their
goals in the makeup industry. It is at this consultation that we determine
what classes the student should take, and set up a schedule.
Rates
My rates for one-on-one classes are:
Initial One-on-One consultation - FREE
One Hour Class - $35
Two Hour Class - $60
Prosthetic Rates
I offer a special rates only for prosthetics classes, which can take anywhere
from 4-8 hours.
4 to 8 Hours - $100
Additional Fees
In basic stage and film makeup classes, all makeup supplies are provided
for you during the class. You may wish to purchase your own makeup kit,
so you can practice on your own. A list of suppliers and supplies can
be provided for you.
Materials for prosthetic construction will be provided for you at cost.
This means that you will not have to buy your own 100 pound bag of plaster,
but you will have to pay for the plaster you use.
In certain classes such as sculpting and foam latex appliance construction,
you may be asked to purchase some of your own tools and supplies. These
supplies are generally under $50.
In any class that requires application, you will need a model. There
is an additional charge if I provide a model for you. You can however
bring you own model (a friend or relative) and there will be no additional
charge.
Model fee - $25
Location and Times
Some classes are taught at my home in Bellevue, near where I-90 meets
I-405. Others are taught at my costume studio in North Kirkland. Class
times vary depending on my schedule and the availability of models. Unless
I am working on another project. I can usually teach classes either during
the day or in the evenings. Some classes, such as life casting and foam
latex prosthetics, which take a long time are best taught on the weekends.
I try to remain fairly flexible to accommodate every student's schedule.
